OH WHAT A DAY (AGAIN!)

Sunday 10th July saw the launch of the Frack Free Kyak!

Great camaraderie on our “Everything we stand to lose walk” from local residents and from our neighbours who have already been affected or will be affected by the “dash for gas” in the future.

We are right in the heart of the very best agricultural land in the UK, if not the world!  And yet this Tory Government,  now in total disarray, is determined to frack mother earth into oblivion to “extract” the last vestiges of climate annihilating hydrocarbons!  Why are they not focusing on renewables, i.e. the only thing that will be left for our children, their children and their children’s children?  What do you think?  What’s the agenda?  Couldn’t be vested interest and lobbying by big dirty business could it?

EVERYTHING WE STAND TO LOSE WALK – Sunday 10th July 10.30 am from the Saracen’s Head canal bridge

We will be meandering along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal on Sunday 10th July, starting at the Saracen’s Head Bridge at 10.30 am along the edge of the seismic survey area to Lydiate.

What is the point?  We will be enjoying all the beautiful countryside surrounding us and taking a photographic record of all around us that we stand to lose if the seismic survey is “encouraging”.  In Aurora’s words:

“Should the survey be encouraging it is likely that Aurora will seek planning permission to drill one or two exploratory wells.”

Anyone wishing to show support please come and join the walk down “Memory Lane”.

OH WHAT A DAY AND MORE!

Farming not fracking20160702_111349_resized_120160702_112929

Over 60 residents gathered at very short notice on Saturday, 2nd July in Station Road, Barton to give Tesla and their masters, Aurora, a message!  The first of many messages to be delivered!  Tesla are keeping 24 hour security on the farm yard where they are based; the gate was shut but, after rousing choruses of “We shall not be moved”, we handed in two letters holding Tesla and Aurora responsible for any and all damage or trespass arising out of the survey.

The next event will be on Sunday, 10th July.  Maureen Mills, West Lancashire Borough Councillor for Halsall, will walk along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal from the Saracen’s Head bridge to Lydiate.  The canal, a fantastic tourist attraction, bounds the seismic survey area down from Halsall to Lydiate.  Starting off at 1030 am.  Please come and cheer her on!

OUR COMMUNITIES SAY A FIRM “NO” TO THIS SEISMIC SURVEY!

HalsallPoster2_001

Although the survey is “permitted development” stipulations were made by Telsa themselves to both Sefton MBC and Lancashire CC to obtain agreement that it was PD, so we will be monitoring it carefully.

Please join us on Saturday to hand in our letter to Tesla!  For further details email haf@fastmail.com

WEST LANCS REVISED SURVEY MAP!

Final Version Aurora_Formby_3D_AOI_SXRX_Lancs_only_A2_1200_160428_9_-1_001Final Version Aurora_Formby_3D_AOI_SXRX_Lancs_only_A2_1200_160428_9_-1_001Final Version Aurora_Formby_3D_AOI_SXRX_Lancs_only_A2_1200_160428_9_-1_001

The map of the West Lancs part of the seismic survey area is available on LCC’s website:

http://planningregister.lancashire.gov.uk/PlanAppDisp.aspx?recno=6943

So at last we have it NO THANKS TO AURORA who, when asked last week by your Borough Councillor for a better map than that which they had provided to Halsall Parish Council, replied:

It is not our intention to issue any more detailed maps of the proposed survey than those which we have already supplied.  The reason for this is the same as that given by the OGA in response to your FOI request in July 2015 namely to protect the privacy of landowners who either have or have not granted access for the survey.

Not great “community engagement”?

You can now see more clearly whether you are in the survey area.  From the 2014 correspondence Tesla advised that the blue dots are what they call the “receivers” and the red dots are what they call the “source”.  They explained in their Public Notice back in 2014:

Surveying operations will be confined predominantly to open farmland and a few roads. The process will initially involve a number of specially adapted small agricultural tractors drilling regularly spaced  shot holes (approximately 5m depth) along a series of pre-determined traverse lines. Each shot hole will be loaded with a small seismic source charge.
An extensive network of passive receiver nodes will then be positioned on the ground surface. Once sufficient nodal spread is in situ, data recording will commence. Individual shot hole falling within the active recording spread will be revisited and the source charge fired, possibly producing a slight muffled ‘thud’. Alternatively, the source will be provided by one or more slow moving specialist tractor units, travelling along roads and tracks, stopping at regular intervals and sending a vibration frequency signal into the ground. The data recording will slowly migrate across the survey area until the works are completed.

REVISED SURVEY MAP!

DC_2016_00852-REVISED_SXRX_LAYOUT_A2_PLAN-1536307_001

Despite being denied a better map by Aurora, see earlier article with the correspondence, this map has been provided by their contractors, Tesla, to Sefton Council.  There is more information on:

http://pa.sefton.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=O6LKB5NW01K00

Unfortunately the corresponding documents for West Lancashire are not displayed on LCC’s website so we are asking for the revised map covering the rest of the survey area.
