The Moss Alliance has been set up to bring together local groups, including HAF, opposed to Aurora Energy Resources’ plans to frack on Altcar Moss. Their forthcoming planning application is just the first they will submit because fracking is extremely unlikely to be financially viable unless on a vast scale! And the truth is they just don’t know how much gas in place, if any, is recoverable.
Please support The Moss Alliance! You can follow on:
Haskayne Village Hall Saturday, 17th February 2018 from 12 noon to 1800hrs
This is important to West Lancashire and Sefton residents far and wide.
Please consider attending and asking your questions.
Calling all residents of Halsall, Haskayne, Downholland, Barton, Formby, Great Altcar, Little Altcar and communities on the A565, the route from the motorway network to Formby:
Aurora Energy Resources have, on 4th January 2018, put in a “scoping request” for opinion to Lancashire County Council which indicates their plans for exploratory drilling/fracking on Altcar Moss. This will NOT be consulted upon. LCC have 5 weeks to provide an opinion, unless a longer period is agreed with the applicant.
The precise location, just outside the Conservation Area, can be seen here:
We understand, though not yet confirmed to residents, that Aurora is planning their “public engagement” exercise at Haskayne Village Hall on Saturday 17th February. Full details will appear here when they have notified residents of their intentions, hopefully this will be in good time for residents to make arrangements to attend.
We are organising a public meeting which will be advertised here shortly.
Public meetings have been arranged by Frack Free Formby and Halsall Against Fracking:
- Formby: Wednesday 15th March at Formby Cricket Club 7.30pm
- Halsall: Tuesday 21st March at Halsall Memorial Hall 7.30pm
Please spread the word!
Aurora have today again declared their intention to put in a planning application this year!
Anti-fracking groups will be coming together in support of the communities on the Fylde at Maple Farm, Preston New Road (A583) on Saturday 25th February 11am – 2pm! Your support is needed!
Activist Protectors have established a camp in an occupied field near to Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire, an area scheduled to be fracked by the drilling company Third Energy. The camp, which now has a fully functioning community kitchen, has attracted anti-fracking visitors, supporters and donations of food and supplies from all around the country (including Halsall). The aim of the Protection Camp is to establish and maintain a strong presence in the area and to work with the local Community in their quest to protect North Yorkshire from Unconventional Gas exploitation. North Yorkshire Police, Ryedale District Council and North Yorkshire County Council have all agreed to facilitate peaceful protest by those involved in the Protection Camp.

According to correspondence on the Lancashire County Council website it is clear that the only interested parties who didn’t know that work was about to start on Preston New Road were the residents and action group! They found out by email on the morning the work started!
We attended the Rally on 12th November in great numbers and what an inspiration!
